Park Ranger
CurrentIn total I survey over 700 acres of land. My main responsibility is to maintain the parks and reservoirs, although often I am called to handle police business in the city as I am a certified peace o cer. I was selected as our Union representative for the Rangers and trusted to negotiate our contract. I am trusted by my superiors to train new rangers and have done so. My daily routine is to monitor the status of the parks and reservoirs in various ways such as interacting with the public through my daily patrol and planned events. At the parks, I conduct train tours. I also help manage a fishing and playground program. In addition, every October I help run our Halloween program for the kids. I maintain peace, order, and respect for nature by preventing and stopping any illegal activity that occurs in the parks, reservoirs and city. On many occasions I have to go to specific calls in order to help communicate with Spanish speaking individuals as one of the only law enforcement o cers who speaks spanish.
