I spent the summer of 2022 with Spectrum in St. Louis as a Business Intelligence intern on the stores support team. During my time with Spectrum, I helped maintain and improve different BI reporting tools and heard input from end users of these tools to take note of the features they were looking for. I also created an interactive workflow page that helped optimize the creation, assignment and completion of team projects. Finally, I worked with a team of diverse Spectrum interns from across the country as part of a Hackathon team. We researched Spectrum business strategy and governmental policy to propose a solution to a modern problem facing Spectrum, and our solution was voted the winner!

In this role, I examined insurance filings from companies marketing Medicare supplement insurance to build my dataset for analysis. I then used SQL to manage my dataset, produce smaller datasets, and prepare my final data for use in Tableau. Using Tableau, I put together a dashboard of notable trends in actuarial assumptions that the companies were using. This dashboard was presented to multiple department managers and the department actuary to inform them of trends and recommend which assumptions should be more closely monitored.
