I am Carson Bock. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee Knoxville majoring in Civil Engineering and Political Science and minoring in Educational Leadership/Policy Studies. My primary involvements/activities at Tennessee include: the United Residence Halls Council, the National Residence Hall Honorary, Engineering Ambassadors, and the Society of Women Engineers. My shared leadership vision is for the world to be a better place for the work that I have done and the life that I have lived. To accomplish this vision, my personal mission is to create change by empowering others to act, speak out, and learn more about the issues that they are passionate about. This vision and mission reflects my values:I value thoughtful change. I don’t believe in upholding traditions simply because they are the way that things have always been done, but I also don’t think we can dismiss everything we see as inefficient or antiquated. Rather, I think we need to analyze the origins, efficiencies, and reasons behind processes and traditions. I value input and feedback. I think the best way to change and make change is to include broad perspectives and outside view points. I value empathy and recognition of the humanity of others. Those who are nice to others and can remember that everyone leads a life as real and intricate as their own are incredibly important to me. I value productivity, determination, and ambition. I often place more weight on productivity than I should, but I really value the ability to set your mind to something and get it done.
