Co-Director and founding member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise is Medicine Ireland National Centre and Exercise is Medicine - On Campus at the University of Limerick. The mission of the EIM Ireland National Center is to make physical activity/exercise a standard part of a disease prevention and treatment medical paradigm in the Republic of Ireland. The vision of the EIM Ireland National Center is to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, connecting healthcare with evidence-based resources for people everywhere and of all abilities.

Investigating the intracellular trafficking and secretion of adiponectin from adipocytes under the guidance of Dr Silvia Mora at the University of Liverpool. This work led to two high impact factor publications in 2012 and 2013.
