OhmConnect is a residential demand response (DR) aggregator, operating virtual power plants (VPPs) in Texas, New York, Australia and California and energy managements services across the US. We have millions of households on our platform, providing megawatts of relief to the grid during times of peak demand.In October 2021, I took on the role of Director of Software Development as leader of the Product Engineering team. As Principal Software Engineer, my responsibility encompassed all engineering functions and projects at OhmConnect. Most importantly, I was responsible for code quality across the engineering team, requiring strong opinions about our code and reviewing others' work to offer feedback and guidance. This part of my job was made a lot easier by the fantastic people I've worked with.I also served as founding technical lead for the newly-created product and platform engineering team, which works closely with PM to build member-facing features in our single-page application and support day-to-day market operations from an automation and tooling perspective. As a senior software engineer, I continued to apply engineering principles and rigorous analysis to problems in the energy space.This pursuit included increased ownership and direction over the operation of virtual power plants in the CAISO, including Market integrations with CAISO bidding (SIBR), market results (CMRI), demand response user registration (DRRS), and meter data management (MRI-S) services. I was also responsible for performance analysis on our fleet of hundreds of virtual power plants and hundreds of thousands of demand response participants, including preparing invoicing materials for counterparties purchasing capacity from OhmConnect.In addition to back-end responsibilities, I increased my customer-facing role as well, developing and architecting features, including in-app smart home sales and the OhmConnect Summer Challenge, and helping to resolve customer inquiries as part of our Customer Support tech lead initiative. I also led the charge away from a proprietary front-end content management system and toward the industry standard web app framework, React.js.Finally, I worked increasingly with leadership on the engineering team and other teams, honing skills in communication and facilitation.

As an OhmConnect engineer, I worked across the stack to enhance our platform, build new features, support operations, and analyze data. Major projects included automating our market bidding strategy, building out tracking functionality, monitoring and correcting application downtime and errors, and integrating with smart home devices. LinkedIn is connecting hundreds of millions of professionals across the globe in order to make its members more productive and successful. On the LinkedIn Analytics Data Solutions team, I built scalable, data driven applications to empower our global sales team. My team and I worked throughout the stack and with cross-functional partners to help the sales team leverage their own networks and get LinkedIn's great products into the world. In addition to continuing my day-to-day responsibilities as data scientist, I also served as team lead for the LinkedIn Sales Solutions arm of the team. Beyond architecting and implementing technical solutions to power our data needs, this role allowed me to zoom out and build my strategic skill set by positioning the team through building and maintaining relationships with cross-functional partners, leading quarterly and annual planning, and heading hiring efforts for the team.

As a Data Scientist on the Analytics Data Solutions team at LinkedIn, I built scalable, data-driven web applications to empower LinkedIn salespeople to better sell LinkedIn products. My contributions included architectural decisions and code across a number of languages and frameworks for a variety of audiences and goals. I built a streamlined API for a tool serving dynamic marketing content to a live audience for SalesConnect in PHP, built a service in Java Play to record and serve user engagement data to other services as part of our sales tool framework, developed Python Flask applications for our salespeople to access data-driven insights, and integrated with LinkedIn RESTful services, to name a few projects I worked on.I also served as a founding leader of the LinkedIn Analytics Hacker Club, which aims to spread basic web development and scripting skills throughout the Analytics organization in order to increase the team's efficiency through automation that is scalable to the entire organization.

Isomorf is on the verge of revolutionizing software development by providing a single platform to write, edit, share, run, and host code. (Well, it used to be...)As a freelance web dev, I implemented key features of the web interface, including on-the-fly dynamic syntax and syntactic sugar presentation, using the AngularJS front-end framework. I interfaced directly with a Scala-based REST API web service to pull and persist data for users, ultimately surfacing code to the users in a powerful web-based IDE in a syntax and format and of their choosing.

DC Energy is a leading financial participant in energy markets, leveraging a highly quantitative, data-driven, fundamental approach to trading in the markets. While there, I was promoted to Associate. I developed expertise in R for quantitative modeling and later served as a co-team lead on the data management team, where I worked extensively in front-end and back-end web development, principally on the LAMP stack.
