At the Baudino Law Group, a corporate health law firm, I work closely with both for- and non-profit health systems, hospitals and providers on all issues health law related, including contract negotiation and drafting, mergers and acquisitions, Medicare and Medicaid, commercial payers, corporate restructuring, HIPAA, health information technology privacy and security, fraud and abuse, and state and federal regulatory compliance. While here, I have reviewed, drafted and negotiated a wide variety of contracts including payor, management, and licensing agreements, as well as garnered experience developing, drafting and implementing policies and procedures for ACOs and CINs.

I worked as a legal intern with the HeLP Clinic during my final semester at the Georgia State University College of Law. The Health Law Partnership (HeLP) Legal Services Clinic is part of the Health Law Partnership, a medical-legal collaboration among Georgia State Law, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Atlanta Legal Aid Society.Through partnerships with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine, HeLP students learn alongside medical students and residents, as well as graduate students of public health, social work and bioethics.The clinic teaches collaborative, interdisciplinary problem solving and reflective practice, which encourages continuous learning. In the HeLP Clinic, students develop skills such as client interviewing, counseling and representation, negotiation, research and drafting, and case management. Georgia State University

As a GRA with the Center for Law, Health, and Society, my primary focus has been public health law. In that regard, I have helped the Center construct a public health research guide to be used by students and professionals, alike. Our hope is that, as we continue to build and update the research guide, students, teachers, and researchers will have access to a comprehensive resource providing current public health law information from a litany of sources.

Networking with a variety of state legislators, board members, and politicians to ensure client satisfaction. Reading, researching, and writing a wide variety of legislative bills and proposals and understanding their potential effects on different markets, particularly healthcare. Conferring with legislators and officials to emphasize apparent weaknesses or merits of certain bills in order to influence passage through either the Georgia House of Representatives or the state Senate.

I assisted the Georgia Trial Lawyer's Association through the 2015 Georgia Legislative Session. My primary responsibility was preserving the civil justice system through close analysis of proposed legislation. Upon discovery of legislation threatening curtailment of the civil justice system, I was tasked with analysis and the presentation of potential pathways of remediation to any measures that stood as an obstacle to my objective. This involved not only an ability to closely read and summarize potential legislative measures, but also the ability to perceive potential threats where they were otherwise unapparent. In addition to legislative interpretation, I was also responsible for preparing superiors to address committees and subcommittees so that we might better convey to them our position on relevant issues.

While working with Mr. Gordon, I was responsible for a wide variety of legal research involving both criminal defense and civil litigation. I drafted numerous documents including but not limited to discovery requests, briefs, demurrers, motions, and interoffice memoranda. I had the opportunity to attend, conduct, and record interviews and depositions of clients, witnesses, and police officers.I wrote numerous appellate briefs for the Georgia Court of Appeals on a variety of issues including medical malpractice and felony drug possession, among others. Most exciting was the opportunity to sit at counsel's table to aid, assist, observe, and participate in every stage of a week-long trial involving the complex defense of a 14-count felony indictment.

Conducted extensive legal research and drafted memoranda pertaining to hospital authorities, hospital acquisitions, antitrust, strategic alliances, insurance, HIPAA, Certificates of Need, and Accountable Care Organizations. Met with multiple hospital CEOs and CFOs to aid in developing a not-for-profit limited liability strategic alliance aimed at establishing and exchanging best practices, creating an information nerve center, and increasing healthcare quality while reducing costs. Detailed review of hospital management service agreements, hospital employee contracts, and hospital lease and management agreements.Assisted in developing and compiling information necessary for attorney general review process.
