Senior Vice President and Counsel - Managed and directed legal support of commercial business segment, including regulatory oversight (both state and federal), ACA implementation, sales, marketing, producer channels, product implementation, and clinical operations, including medical management programs, disease management and case management programs, medical policy, clinical guidelines, and pharmacy. Supervised legal staff, including lawyers, clerks, interns, paralegals, and administrative staff, throughout the U.S.• Responsible for legal interpretation, implementation, and oversight of the Affordable Care Act. Decisions and planning were made with little input from the Federal Government in law or regulation, which required many carefully considered plans and decisions. Ultimately, no plans or decisions had to be changed or significantly modified, saving Anthem millions of dollars in reimplementation costs and/or fines or penalties.• Responsible for designing and implementing various personnel programs within the legal department to improve overall job satisfaction of employees while improving overall staffing. Programs included a Diversity Forum, partnering with the national Street Law Program, and implementing law school externship and internship programs designed to build diverse staffing pipelines.• Enjoyed updated and expanded opportunities and responsibilities over career in various locations, including Cincinnati, OH (1996-1999), Denver, CO (2000), Manchester, NH (2001-2005 and 2008-2018), and Atlanta, GA (2006-2007).
