I am Carter Bennett, and I am a recent graduate from CU Boulder, earning my Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Physics with an accompanying minor in Computer Science. I am passionate about using computers and computational methods to increase our understanding of the world around us, using analytical and numerical methods to model problems and identify solutions.In my time at CU Boulder I worked as an undergraduate researcher, with the bulk of my work centering on the study of the ferroelectric nematic phase of liquid crystal and its novel behavior, both experimentally and in simulation. In this time I also worked on developing a deterministic simulator for the behavior of the ferroelectric nematic phase, using Fast Fourier Transforms in conjunction with tailored data structures in order to improve performance to high levels. I also have a personal interest in quantum computing, AI/machine learning, and other emerging technologies that are reshaping the software engineer's approach to problem-solving.In my free time, I greatly enjoy reading, playing music on my guitar or bass, and practicing kickboxing. I also love meeting and interacting with new people, and hope to become part of a team that shares my passion for research and love of learning new things.
