Conducts a thorough evaluation and analysis of a Police Department’s vital administrative, operational, investigative, department’s policies and procedures. A determination of a Police Department’s strengths and weaknesses will also be determined to improve that agency’s overall performance. Conducts a comprehensive threat and vulnerability assessment which are essential to securing an organization’s facilities. A multidisciplinary approach will look at an organization’s security from every possible angle to mitigate risks, from the physical environment to the human element to the role of technology.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDSThe Office of Professional Standards consists of Internal Affairs, Public Information Officer, and Training.Professional Standards is responsible for:•Responding to inquiries concerning the effects of existing law and legal decisions on Department procedures•Researching and reporting on legislation, court decisions, and opinions of the Village Attorney and State’s Attorney•Risk Management-Civil Liability•Evaluating / Auditing operations to determine if organizational units conform to approved policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations•Maintaining and publishing General Orders, Special Orders, Standard Operating Procedures, Training Bulletins, guides and check lists for use by Department personnel•Developing processes for entry and promotional tests•Recruitment•Coordinating the hiring process with the Commssioners•Conducting background investigations on potential new employeesa) Internal AffairsPersonnel conducting Internal Affairs report directly to the Chief of Police and are responsible for:•Investigating complaints or allegations of misconduct, by Police Officers and civilian employees•Maintaining confidential Internal Affairs files, and safeguarding the Unit's physical files and computer files•Investigating sensitive matters concerning other Village departments, at the direction of the Chief of Policeb) Public Information OfficerPersonnel acting as the Bolingbrook Police Department spokesperson or Public Information Officer report directly to the Chief of Police and are responsible for:•Dealing with the media and improving the overall public and internal image of the Department•Responding to scenes and handling media inquiries directly•Submitting press releasesc) TrainingThe Training Section is accountable to the Professional Standards Lieutenant and is responsible for:•Serving as the Department's central training authority•Planning, administering, and operating the Annual In-Service Training

Performs a variety of routine and complex public safety work in the administration of the police department. Supervises police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities.Supervises police sergeant, police officers and support staff in their assigned duties. Oversees and may personally participate in investigating criminal law violations occurring within the jurisdiction of the department, obtaining evidences and compiling information regarding these crimes, preparing cases for filing of charges, testifying in court, and related activities. Supervises the scheduling and coordination of shift activities. Reviews a variety of police related reports prepared by subordinate officers or others. Evaluates officers' arrests based on circumstances and evidence to determine whether subject will be detained or placed in jail. Makes day-to-day police assignments as required by the needs of the service. Makes plans about individual tactical matters such as equipment to be used for particular operations or the detailed plans needed for an investigation. Develops new approaches to investigate problems. Determines how to deploy personnel during emergency responses.Conducts periodic performance evaluations and planning sessions for assigned personnel. Counsels assigned personnel on job performance and disciplinary matters. Oversees and assists, as needed in the response to emergency radio calls and investigates accidents, robberies, civil disturbances, domestic disputes, fights, drunkenness, missing children, prowlers, abuse of drugs, etc. Takes appropriate law enforcement action. Reviews, evaluates and develops programs, policies and procedures for various departmental operations. Assists in the preparation and administration of the department budget. Coordinates and supervises the training, assignment, development of subordinate police officers, or other assigned staff.

Aircraft electrical/instrument/flight control systems technicians, helicopter at the lMA level, inspect, test, maintain, and repair components, assemblies, subassemblies, modules, cards, printed circuit boards, and ancillary equipment whose aggregate constitutes a complete Aircraft Electrical/ Flight Control System or Subsystem.
