Developed hardware-in-loop simulation to comprehensively test ocean current turbines. Devised and implemented a custom Simulink model, seamlessly integrated with Opal-RT, to facilitate real-timesimulations and control of an AC Induction Motor via its VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives). Orchestrated a closed-loop system by connecting the dynamometer to the setup, enabling the Opal-RT to receive crucial speed encoder feedback for performance analysis. Co-authored a comprehensive research paper, highlighting the hardware-in-loop setup’s efficacy in efficiently assessing the functionality of ocean current turbines before actual deployment.
