I'm a software engineer focusing almost entirely on client-side javascript. I've worked in every javascript context that exists: on the server (Node), in the browser (angular, vue, (mostly) react), on mobile phones (Cordova), and on Desktops (Electron). I've mentored new employees. I've interviewed prospective hires. I've been involved in every step of the software development process: architecture, planning, implementation, and leadership. I've worked on incredibly complicated and interesting problems and I've also spent hours nudging pixels into place. The thing I've learned about myself is this: I enjoy the process of solving problems. That's why I write code. That's why I don't think I'll ever completely stop.

Software EngineerCosaic Dec 2015 - Oct 2020London, England, GbFinsembleFinsemble is very hard to describe. It's sort of a framework. It's sort of a product. It's kind of like a 'meta operating system' that sits on top of other operating systems (e.g., Mac, Windows). Whatever it is, the purpose of the software is to enable others to build slick, easy to use multi-window applications. And it's written in Javascript! I was the first major contributor to the project and worked in that capacity for a little over 2 years until I took on the Team Lead role. I worked on the startup and shutdown sequences, half of the public facing APIs, and little bits and pieces in between. Probably the largest single contribution I made was to the window management system. Multi-chartsBefore Finsemble, ChartIQ's primary product was an SDK for creating fast, hyper responsive charts using nothing but JS and the HTML canvas element. One of my early projects was enabling more than one chart to run on a web page. There were different kinds of charts that offered different levels of interaction. Our most customizable chart only came as a singleton. I was tasked with changing the code so that we could store N states for these charts, and restore them to the proper chart. It sounds trivial, but it involved rewiring a complex system that was hardcoded to only do this kind of operation once. It was a really fun project, and is still being sold today. -
