-I was head financial economist for a Los Angeles based, multi-billion dollar hedge fund (a Bloomberg Markets’ Top 100 Performing Large Hedge Funds) where I:1) Machine Learning Investment Research – worked on Machine Learning techniques to improve investment research / risk management and identify possible asset allocation strategies based on numerous macro regimes. This includes identifying limits/pitfalls to such methods.Key Highlights:-Identified helpful patterns in the data for investments/risk management purposes2) Developed the fund’s Global Macro Investment Outlook:Key Highlights:Before moves in asset prices and consensus, I predicted -- US Growth Scares/corrections-Eurozone Recession-China/commodity slowdown-UK recession-In a separate position, I predicted the 2008-09 recession back in early 20073) Money Mgt - Created a $200 million portfolio of international stocks, both on the long and short side, to express my macro investment views.Key Highlights:-This portfolio had abnormal positive returns as the macro views played out.4) Was the number 2 under the Co-Founder/Chief Risk Officer, and conducted numerous investment research projects related to asset allocation and risk management. Key Highlights:-Developed a new proprietary risk management system that tied macro and other risk factors to existing and potential new investment positions.5) Supported Portfolio Managers in quantitative investment studies evaluating existing/new investment positions.

-I was the senior economist at this Fortune 500 bank’s corporate headquarters where I worked on applied economic research. Key Highlights:- I predicted the 2008-09 Recession back in early 2007.-I developed econometric models used for trading and corporate decision making, and contributed to financial market and macroeconomic variable forecasts. -My work also included special projects for the CEO and CFO.
