During my time at Prime Automation I was able to build on my pre-existing panel building knowledge by working in the design department. I learned proper electrical drawing techniques in AutoCAD, and was able to execute efficiency in the development of a Bill Of Materials and in the ordering of the proper parts.As an added bonus, I was able to spend lots of time in the panel shop at Prime. During this time, I was able to share my past experiences with others to help create our standard of building panels in house. One of my favorite projects to build was the largest one that I was involved in designing. In the process of building, we found many areas for improvement where I was able to go back and re-draw portions of the project to reflect changes made in the build.

As a receiving associate, it is my duty to safely unload materials from transport vehicles using the appropriate machinery. I have acquired a variety of licenses in house to be able to operate all equipment including narrow aisle reach trucks, counterbalance forklifts (electric & LPG), pallet jacks (ride and walk behind), as well as man lifts suck as skyjacks and order pickers. In addition to unloading products, receiving the products in the computer system is a large portion of the job. I have to be very accurate when counting all of the incoming materials, and know how to deal with product overages and shortages. Knowing the different vendors is crucial, as it determine whether the shipment is certified by the vendor, or requires a detail receipt. On top of my daily duties, it was also my job to help improve the flow of the receiving process. During my 2 years in receiving, we ripped out the large majority of the racking in the area to make room for more products to be brought in on the floor. This involves immense AutoCAD planning as well as a large amount of physical Labour.

As a control panel builder, it was my duty to read and interpret electrical drawings to create a control panel. A full panel build would consist of steel enclosure modifications to install devices such as fans, HMI's, and programming ports. Next the backplate would be laid out, drilled, and assembled; which would then lead to the wiring, installation, and testing of the backplate. During my time at Brock solutions, I learned many things about the process of building panels, but also learned a lot about electrical drawings. While I may not have been using AutoCAD during this term, I certainly learned lots about the format and overall structure of electrical drawings.
