I joined the start-up team for this boutique private equity firm-backed holding company with portfolio companies across the mobility spectrum. Working closely with the CEO to create the holding company, I helped develop the M&A strategy; sourced and vetted potential acquisitions; and led financial operations of five portfolio companies, including accounting, audit, reporting, HR, negotiations, and investor relations. I served as the CFO for MobileLife, Inc. and Boinc. Brought them from $1M in daily losses to breakeven by rationalizing headcount, advising worst-performing stores to identify and remediate challenges, and divesting an underperforming China-based sourcing company. ✔ DIVESTITURE: Led strategic divestiture of 100+ AT&T mobile retail outlets to a $2B consumer electronics company as CFO of MobileLife, Inc.✔ NEGOTIATIONS: Negotiated product launch of SaaS-based music delivery solution, Boinc, in 3 international markets. Co-led acquisition of Boinc in a 363 sale. Negotiated $20M+ of series A, A1, and B funding for Boinc and served as the face of the company with investors.

KGRA, a private developer of renewable power projects using modular equipment to generate clean, renewable electricity from waste heat, recruited me to found and manage all aspects of business operations. My remit included legal, finance, HR, and strategy. I leveraged my experience in structured finance in the renewable energy space and my partner's knowledge of geothermal hedge fund space to build a company that converted industrial waste heat into useable electricity.✔ STRATEGIC ALLIANCES: Negotiated strategic alliances, spearheaded funding, and built processes and infrastructure for rapid growth.✔ VENTURE CAPITAL: Sourced and closed $1.5M of Series A venture capital funds, adapting skills from investment market to more demanding VC audience.✔ RETURN ON INVESTMENT: Established double-digit ROI co-generation project with North Carolina lumber mill. ✔ SALES: Built sales infrastructure to enable rapid expansion without cost base increase, recruiting team of commission-based reps with existing industry relationships.

Provide strategic growth advisory work for start-up clean energy company

Invenergy hired me as an analyst out of business school. I rapidly assumed responsibility for the origination, negotiation, and structure of debt/equity investments between $25M and $300M; targeted and developed the strategy; and executed growth opportunities. I led the structured finance team and reported to the CFO. In 7 years, Invenergy grew to become North America's largest owner/operator of renewable generation. ✔ RENEWABLE ENERGY STRATEGY: Identified renewable energy as a solution after 9/11 when power generation capital costs became impractical. Researched and recommended wind farms as an alternative and began steep learning curve to develop sites. ✔ FINANCE: Partnered with CFO to create a Structured Finance team of five analysts that focused on project financing. ✔ PORTFOLIO FUNDING: Built and managed complex portfolio funding comprising construction financing, equipment financing, Invenergy's equity, term loan financing, and tax equity to appeal to large institutional investors, e.g., Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. ✔ RECOGNITION: Earned recognition for "Environmental Deal of the Year" and "North American Portfolio Finance Deal of the Year" by creating cutting-edge portfolio structures. ✔ FINANCIAL MODEL: Developed the financial model, and created marketing materials, including the investor teaser, private placement memorandum, and road show materials. Face of the firm as a road show team member. ✔ GREENFIELD DEVELOPMENT: Boosted Invenergy's profile as a wind developer and added ~$15M in pro-forma net present value (NPV) by mapping strategy to acquire an existing 200-watt greenfield development project. ✔ DEAL MAKING: Co-structured deal that positioned Invenergy as the only developer nationwide to bring a project-financed deal online in 2004. Transaction added ~$8M of pro-forma NPV as Invenergy's first foray into wind development.
