I'm a USU mechanical engineering senior sending satellites to space with the USU Get Away Special (GAS) Student Satellite Team! Currently a Systems Engineer on the GAS Team and mentoring the next generation of team members and leaders. Formerly Team Coordinator, where I led the team on initial development of the GASRATS CubeSat, which will launch in 2026 via NASA CSLI. Before that, I was Mechanical Team Lead, where I led the final development and delivery of the successful AeroBoom inflatable payload of the GASPACS CubeSat, which was in orbit January - May 2022. When I'm not building satellites, I'm doing R&D at ColdSlayer, where we're creating a novel heated sock that keeps your feet warm using your own natural body heat. Say goodbye to your garbage battery-powered heated socks!

Systems Engineer InternL3Harris Technologies May 2024 - PresentSalt Lake City, Utah, United StatesMy role as a Systems Engineer Intern is ensuring project deliverables are designed and built to meet the expected performance and functional requirements of customers. This includes:• Managing and refining system requirements, properly adjusting when the customer needs• Creating thorough system documentation to ensure compatibility between subsystems• Performing tests and simulations to create realistic requirements and verify system performance -
Systems EngineerUtah State University Get Away Special Team May 2024 - PresentAs a Systems Engineer on the USU Get Away Special Student Satellite Team, I am responsible for interfacing with the Team Coordinator and the various subteams to ensure the GASRATS subsystems are fully compatible. My time is also spent mentoring team members, ensuring I pass on the skills and knowledge I've gained in my past leadership positions. -
Team CoordinatorUtah State University Get Away Special Team Jan 2022 - May 2024Logan, Utah, United StatesAs Team Coordinator, I led both technical and program sides of the GAS Team and the initial development of the GASRATS mission. This included interfacing with project shareholders, improving onboarding efforts, hosting design reviews, writing grants, and ensuring system compatibility, among many more responsibilities.During my time as Team Coordinator, I led the GASRATS project to SRR and secured a NASA CSLI launch and over $50k in funding. Aside from the project accomplishments, I learned how to (and not to) be a leader, guiding over 30 undergraduate students in doing something we all find to be pretty awesome. -
Nasa Space Grant Consortium / Usu Gas FellowshipUtah State University Get Away Special Team May 2021 - Aug 2023Logan, Utah, United StatesDuring the summers of 2021-2023, I was a recipient of the NASA Space Grant Consortium Fellowship and USU GAS Team Summer Fellowship. In 2021, my work was focused on finishing the AeroBoom payload and the GASPACS CubeSat, including preparing for and delivering GASPACS to NASA in September 2021.In 2022 and 2023, I led concept development and early designing for the GASRATS CubeSat. -
Mechanical Team LeadUtah State University Get Away Special Team Dec 2020 - Jan 2022Logan, Utah, United StatesAs Mechanical Team Lead, I was in charge of designing, building, and verifying the Get Away Special Passive Attitude Control Satellite (GASPACS) AeroBoom Payload and other physical systems. The AeroBoom is a meter-long inflatable boom that is used as a passive attitude controlling mechanism. Two-axis stabilization is achieved due to aerodynamic drag from the AeroBoom, causing the satellite to stabilize along its velocity vector.Throughout my time as Mechanical Team Lead, I led critical design changes to the AeroBoom Payload, focusing on increasing its reliability and success rate. Quickly iterating and improving building and testing methods led to higher confidence in build quality and larger chances of a successful AeroBoom deployment.GASPACS was deployed from the International Space Station on January 26, 2022. The AeroBoom was successfully deployed shortly after. An image of the deployed AeroBoom was transmitted to the GAS Team ground station later that day, completing the main mission objective of GASPACS. GASPACS reentered 117 days later, marking the end of an enormously successful mission. GASPACS was the first entirely undergraduate CubeSat in the world and also featured the first Raspberry Pi to be used as a main flight computer. -
