Finalist at the National Grade Level Reading Communications Expo.• Created an app prototype requested by Mayor Pugh that would allow high-school students to enroll in any after-school program in the city.• Led design & strategy for multi-platform digital campaign to mobilize grassroots activism, helping to increase the engaged member base to over 1000 in less than a year. Aligned branding with advocacy efforts, creating strategic content & memes. • Provided strategy, content for public & media outreach efforts to mobilize grassroots activism. Provided communications support for large media events, including forums with high-level Baltimore City officials.• Directed creative team in qualitative research of an after-school makerspace using human-centered design methods. Selected accomplishments:• Collaborated within cross-functional team to create a national, multi-channel campaign for WaterAid. Contributed to short, medium & long-term strategy, research, messaging and branding on a tight project timeline.• Created communications assets in support of advocacy goals for global water access. Designed digital advertisements, infographics, social media memes, brochures, flyers, fact sheets, and WaterAid’s #GirlStrong visual brand.

As a strategic designer and communications consultant, I've researched, developed and implemented digital and print products for clients including Grace Hill Settlement House, Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture, D.C.’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education / D.C. Schoolyard Greening, The Abilities Network, Saks Fifth Avenue (Chevy Chase) and Metropolitan Partnership.Selected accomplishments:• Facilitated small (3-10) and large (100-200) group design-thinking workshops, including conferences for social entrepreneurs (Ashoka U Exchange) and teachers (the Abilities Network, DCSG Workshop Series). • Produced and edited a live-action and motion-graphic-based PSA video for an AIDS housing project in St. Louis.• Designed, coded and maintained a WordPress-based website – featuring a Buddypress-enabled social network – for outdoor classroom educators in Washington, D.C..• Prototyped, tested and designed instructional graphics and accompanying curricula for use by education nonprofits in D.C. & Virginia.• Designed irrigation system as well as concepts for community newsletter and environmental graphics of a park in a St. Louis transitional housing project.

Graphic design, marketing and research for historic redevelopment projects. Project partners included Under Armour Performance Center, SOM, Hilton Hotels, Saks Fifth Avenue.Selected accomplishments:• Contributed research and design to cross-organizational teams on urban, historic redevelopment projects. Collaborated with architects, marketing professionals, contractors and tenant businesses.• Gained experience writing and editing tax credit applications to the National Park Service and project proposal to the General Services Administration.• Developed external communications including design, development and maintenance of Metropolitan’s WordPress-based website, motion-graphics videos, and photography.• Researched and wrote comprehensive historical study of the emblematic Baltimore Trust Co. skyscraper.

Educator at Arcadia’s Farm (one of it’s interleaving food justice and sustainability initiatives) for visiting schools, grades K - 3. Aside from generating organic produce for sale in underserved areas of D.C., the farm’s educational program taught healthy eating and environmental science with an emphasis on experiential learning centered on food and its sustainable production. During my term, I led all 5 of the farm’s workshops and contributed to curricular development including an entirely new lesson plan and visual aide systems.

Along with 3 other educators, we maintained a 3 story rowhouse in a now-demolished Section 8 community in DC, in which we provided day-long instruction in math, English, crafts and particularly science (supported by the children’s daily involvement in the vegetable garden I created on the property).

Garden Coordinator at Peace Park community garden for Grace Hill, one of the city’s oldest nonprofits. I co- coordinated and organized three events totaling over 70 volunteers from Americorps, Aramark and 1byYouth. I managed the garden and also designed and implemented a passive irrigation system and designed a publication for Peace Park’s founder and life-long activist Otis Woodard.
