I was elected to the Board about 7 years ago, and while the Membership Chair, ACAM grew by nearly 20 percent. In 2014, I was elected President of the Academy, and I was the first President ever to serve two terms.Today ACAM has over 120 members throughout the United States.

PartnerAdorno & Yoss 2007 - Oct 2009Atlanta, GeorgiaAs I was contemplating an offer of partnership with Thompson Hine, I was approached by Adorno Yoss of Miami, Florida, then the largest minority-owned law firm in the country, and offered a partnership. While at Adono, I continued to represent professional wrestlers. In particular, I represented Charles Ashenoff, professionally known as "Konnan," in a discrimination and personal injury case. Specifically, Ashenoff claimed that his employer provided excessive quantities of pain killers to him which caused him to suffer from end stage renal disease, requiring a kidney transplant. The manner in which the case ended is the subject of a confidentiality agreement. Unfortunately, with the financial crisis that followed, Adorno was unable to pay its producers, and I decided to leave with Jim Thomas (formerly of McKenna Long, now known as Dentons) and our team of four lawyers to establish Ichter Thomas. -
Of CounselThompson Hine Llp 2005 - 2007Atlanta, GeorgiaWhile working as lead trial counsel for EarthLink in Columbus, Ohio, Thompson Hine was my local counsel. in 2005, Thompson Hine, then a firm of roughly 250 lawyers based in Cleveland, Ohio, had recently opened an office in Atlanta, Georgia, and asked me to join the firm and lead the litigation group in Atlanta. I accepted. While at Thompson Hine, my client, Chris Benoit, a professional wrestler, tragically killed his wife and son and took his own life. It was discovered that Chris' aberrant behavior was a consequence of brain injuries he sustained from concussions suffered in the ring. When Chris Benoit's father traveled to Atlanta to deal with the family's affairs, he hired my team to handle issues related to Chris Benoit's estate. Together with Chris' father, Michael Benoit, we raised awareness of the problems concussions cause for so many athletes. As I contemplated an offer of partnership from Thompson Hine, I was approached by Adorno & Yoss, out of Miami, Florida, then the largest minority owned firm in the country. I was offered a partnership at Adorno and accepted. -

Founding PartnerMeadows, Ichter & Trigg/Meadows, Ichter & Bowers Jan 1992 - Jun 2003Atlanta, GeorgiaI founded Meadows, Ichter & Trigg (MIT) with Dart Meadows and Mark Trigg. We started the firm with a secretary and a part-time paralegal. In 2000, Mark Trigg left the firm, and former Georgia Attorney General Mike Bowers became a name partner in the firm, Meadows, Ichter & Bowers (MIB). The firm grew to be as large as the litigation departments of Atlanta's largest law firms and every bit as formidable. We handled business litigation, representing corporate entities and individuals, enjoying tremendous success in and out of the courtroom. By 2003, Meadows, Ichter & Bowers had grown to over 30 lawyers and more than 50 employees. In the same year, we were approached to merge with Balch & Bingham, a prominent Birmingham, AL law firm.While at Meadows, Ichter & Bowers, Cary represented 12 minority professional wrestler in a race discrimination case against World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The case was settled in a three-day mediation, and while the settlement terms are "confidential," it may be revealed that Cary's clients were quite pleased with the outcomes.

I principally worked with Jerry Blackstock, one of the Atlanta's most revered trial lawyers, representing the likes of Delta Air Lines, State Farm Insurance Company, international real estate investment and telecommunications companies. As a consequence, while other large firm associates were rarely seeing the inside of a courtroom, I was trying cases—initially second chair, and eventually as lead counsel. In 1992, I left Powell Goldstein with two other associates to form Meadows, Ichter & Trigg.
