Running, developing and creating our own business encompasses a great variety of job aspects, from dealing with daily post to assisting with creative input for programming and software design with my husband, Paul Brazier, who's the lead designer and creator of Club Organiser, Class Organiser and our next project - Gala Organiser. My forte lies in customer service, admin and communication, including sales and marketing, all on a shoestring budget, and working from our home office requires plenty of self discipline at times. Working for yourself probably has more stresses than being employed by a n other, but there are rewards as well of course. I miss being part of a bigger team at times though (coming from a hotel and catering background originally), and have been known to get my hands dirty and partake in the occasional private wedding, function or dinner dance on a casual basis, keeping those silver service waitress and management skills in use from time to time!

Ran my own Baby Signing Classes using the Sing and Sign Franchise package. Very successful, peaking at 13 classes per week, 2 part-time staff, and carried out all sales, marketing, admin myself. Started when my youngest daughter was just 9 months old, and finished when she was 8 years old because I felt I needed a new challenge.

University Of Essex Campus, Colchester, Essex

Assisting with the co-ordination and running of conferences, events and English Language Summer Schools booked at the University Campus, with guests making full use of the available University Accommodation and facilities. The Language summer schools were the largest customers, with pupils staying in the students halls etc. whilst the students themselves were on holiday i.e. Out of Term.This position proved to be more seasonal as a result, leading me to become bored, and the restrictions placed on the commercial sector by the University requirements, meant there was little to no flexibility within the job and I left to train as a Reflexologist and pursue the joys of motherhood (Feb 1999 - present) instead.

Marks Tey Hotel, Colchester, Essex

I joined Paten Hotels in 1993 as a Conference and Banqueting Co-ordinator, progressed into Duty Management, still concentrating on the C and B Dept, co-ordinating and running private functions (Weddings etc), conferences and seasonal events such as pre-Christmas parties. The Sales and Marketing Director asked if I'd consider moving across from the one hotel, to the Paten Group Sales Team, which I did as it was a step up, however, I did not achieve the same level of job satisfaction and as there were no co-ordinating positions available in-house at that time, I left Paten Hotels in 1996.
