Carys Carr is a Master of Public Health candidate at The George Washington University. In May of 2024 she graduated from Howard University with a B.A. in Political Science and Maternal & Child Health and a 3.79 GPA, Magna Cum Laude. She is currently a ROC Fellow in the Office of Special Projects and Educational Initiatives in the City of Rochester's Mayor's Office. She has interned most recently in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield where she contributed to company wide diversity initiatives. Prior to that she interned in the Office of the White House Liaison at the Department of Education. Here, Carys also worked closely with the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is also the sitting Executive Board Secretary at Raising the Barcode, Inc. and Project Manager at Deborah Stamps Consulting, LLC.Carys currently sits on the Young Adult and Collegiate committee (YACA) and Health Equity committee of NCNW. She was the secretary of the Howard University Women's Howard Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). She is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), American Public Health Association (APHA), Washington DC Chapter of Sisters in Public Health, as well as, the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). With these organizations she works to help lead, empower, and support the community around her.
