Carys has over ten years experience working with community organisations across the country, with a focus on countering hate and violence, youth empowerment and the prevention of exploitation and extremism. She is a PhD researcher, studying under the School of Education at the University of Birmingham, her research focus is education, extremism and utopianism. She has a Masters in International Relations: Terrorism and Political Violence; her main area of research was gender and terrorism. She has designed programmes on behalf of ConnectFutures for practitioners and organisations across the country, has conducted research on extremism and violence in communities and has several years experience supporting young people in personal development programmes.
