First Class Honours (MChem).Thesis title: Biological testing on novel gold(I) organometallic compounds as potential anti-cancer agents (as part of the Casini group). During my final year project I investigated the stability and potency of a series of gold(I) organometallic compounds as anti-cancer agents using UV-Vis, NMR and fluorescence microscopy techniques as well as being trained to perform in-vitro cytotoxicity assays utilising skills in mammalian cell culture and maintenance.

Participated in an 8-week research placement with Cardiff University (CUROP scheme) on behalf of ‘The Otter Project’, analysing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the spraint of captive otters to explore scent signals that may indicate age, as a potential future method for non-invasive monitoring of wild otters.Used GC-MS and statistical analysis to collect and process data on numerous samples throughout the project to draw conclusions about the relationship between VOCs and otter age.
