Field Technician
CurrentI work collaboratively on small field teams to provide restoration and mechanical support to residential clients with 50+ year old homes in the Twin Cities. My detailed and organized work methods help sustain this specialized / skilled trade in order to problem solve with historical material and effectively communicate with clients. Both my carpentry and mechanical work in client's homes and the finishing work in our shop serve the overall goals of preserving and restoring the intimate built environments of our community.
Community Artist / Collaborator / Teaching Artist
CurrentI designed a 432 sq ft mural which was funded, in part, by the Lyndale Neighborhood Association (2024). I developed a collaborative mural-making activity which engaged 500+ patrons for the First Free Saturdays program at the Walker Art Center (2024). I created a photographic installation that celebrated landscapes around the Twin Cities and organized a public talk with two local artists who use nature in their practices. I was a collective studio member and co-manager of events at MirrorLab Studios (2014-2021). I co-exhibited photographic works as part of a group show about land use, labor, and politics in rural Minnesota, with Leslie Grant, at PAPA Projects in St. Paul (2021). Leslie and I were Coffee House Press: In the Stacks artists-in-residence at the Laurence McKinley Gould Library at Carleton College (2018-19). We executed an installation project using archival materials from Carleton’s special collections and donated work photos from laborers who were installing a geothermal system on campus, as well as our own photographic works. We facilitated a panel discussion exploring how archives can be activated with Carleton and Hennepin County Librarians at Company Projects (2019). As a member of a bookbinding collective, I co-designed a zine project that highlighted interviews from the The Twin Cities GLBT Oral History Project, presented at Hennepin County’s Central Library (2011), and I co-produced a bookbinding workshop that explored the relationship between the Mill District’s industrial past and leisure-focused present at the Soap Factory (2010). I worked on Marcus Young’s Sidewalk Poetry Project through an internship at Public Arts St. Paul (2009). I served as a guest artist at MCAD (2024), Interact Center for Arts (2024), Augsburg College (2020), MFA Critique Seminar at MCAD (2014).
