I began my professional, educational journey at, Utah State University in, Logan Utah. I pursued many different interests, but ultimately settled on family, child, and human development. During my time at USU, I worked as an intramural supervisor from 1997 to 2001. In this position I oversaw all sports programs. Daily duties included creating weekly schedules, forming sports leagues, overseeing tournaments, making sure staff were on site, handling complaints, and dealing with the many stresses that come with management. In the fall of 1998, while still supervising at the USU Intramural office, I began a working for Centro de la Familia, as the lead teacher in the pre kindergarten classroom. Here, I received countless hours of training and teacher development. It was a very diverse place of employment where I gained a deep love of the Latino and Mexican culture. I created and adhered to weekly schedules. I was also expected to meet stringent government regulations and file detailed paperwork. It was very rewarding to do this under a dual language philosophy. During the Migrant Head Starts off season, I coached the Logan High-school varsity, and JV softball teams, from 2006 to 2008. This job was very demanding and required immense leadership and confidence. The players looked to me for guidance, encouragement, skill improvement, game knowledge, and support. I was required to know all aspects of the game of softball and be prepared to defend that knowledge when questionable situations would arise. This position also required me to learn the skill of remaining calm under pressure. In 2007 I left Centro, to pilot a preschool program for Bear River Charter School. I started from the ground up, creating an inviting classroom environment, developing curriculum, and creating a space that was conducive to learning! This preschool quickly became known for its advanced reading curriculum.I am currently enrolling at BYU to further my education.
