Hi, I'm Casey Gao. I am currently a student at Parsons The New School studying fashion design. My journey as a self-professed artist began at a very young age. I was always very passionate at designing clothes and hearing about inspirational artists like Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen. Their stories of hope, individualism, creativity, influence and breaking away away from conformity inspired me to attribute more significance to my thoughts, emotions, and passion. I too began to feel a desire to touch others in a similar way that these icons have, in a deep and spiritual way. ​I am fluent in both English and Chinese. Living in Vancouver, Canada for 10 years has taught me a lot about the western culture and language. At Parsons, I learned the importance of pattern making, textiles, hand knitting, accessories design and also sustainable fashion. I enjoy working with different fabrics and creating new designs. I hope to reach beyond my current limitations in designing garment and eventually succeed in the industry.
