Part of the team working to redevelop a web-based financial portfolio optimization application that helps inform investors and their advisors when to hold and/or dispose of assets. This application was developed within the propriety environment of an incubator financial firm that specializes in creating innovative financial software.• Completed a redesign and rewrite of client’s patented C#/.NET portfolio optimizer and Excel based tax lot optimizer in Java for improved performance and compatibility with new architecture.• Designed and created the data models, relationships, and entities in JPA for client’s Oracle database.• Developed backend application services in Java and Groovy to support the web application’s core functionality.• Designed and implemented a test suite to ensure the correctness of the financial system and system outputs.• Implemented ETLs in with a Groovy framework to handle extracting and parsing third-party financial data, and integrate it into the database.• Collaborated with other engineers to extend legacy code to meet specific client needs.• Collaborated in business use case reviews.• Assisted in the UI/UX designs and implementations.Performed maintenance, upgrades and built new web crawlers in Python for a shipping and logistics company to aid in the tracking of shipping containers for various ports around the US.• Implemented new web crawlers for new ports and railroad terminals as they became available.• Refactored old crawlers for better maintainability and better error reporting.• Added new reporting capabilities to Python and .NET crawlers. • Maintained an ASP.NET MVC web application which provided a dashboard for crawler behavior.
