I am an educator of 14 years, teaching English Language Arts to grades 7 - 12. I currently serve as Department Chair, SC Teacher Mentor, Yearbook Adviser, and English III Honors and AP Literature teacher at my alma mater, Boiling Springs High School. I received an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision in 2022 and am seeking to enter this realm of leadership, as I have my certification in Secondary Administration for South Carolina. My teaching certificate credentials include master's +30, Gifted and Talented Endorsement, and Read to Succeed Endorsement. I am a Doctoral of Educational Leadership student at Converse University studying perceptions of teacher voice. During my career, I have specialized in honors curriculum and instruction, with a master's in Gifted and Talented education and 13 years of experience with honors students. I have been recognized as Teacher of the Year and twice received the Distinguished Teacher of Reading award. In my career, I have also served as English Department Chair, PLC Lead, a member of School Improvement Councils, been named a Technology Support Lead Teacher Leader, and have either sponsored or co-sponsored the following clubs and activities: Beta Club, Literary Magazine, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, MUSE Machine, and Red Ribbon Week.A highlight of my career is the eight years I spent coaching girls' basketball and volleyball. These years allowed me to form lifelong connections with my student-athletes and watch them transform academically, athletically, emotionally, and personally. Teaching and reaching students, making a difference in their lives, and impacting positive school culture drive me professionally.
