Casey Shoopack is a third-grade teacher at Gillingham Charter School in Pottsville Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education Prek-4 with a minor in disabilities studies from Kutztown University in 2018 and is expected to have her Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership with a Principal Certification from Alvernia University in December of 2022. Prior to teaching third grade, Mrs. Shoopack taught in the K-4 self-contained classroom at Gillingham Charter School with students who had behavioral needs, autism, executive function disorder, ADHD, ADD, and various other needs. Mrs. Shoopack is an advocate for students with learning needs and strives to make sure all students are included and are given the accommodations to help them succeed in the classroom setting. She is a firm believer in the idea that education is an atmosphere. Upon entering her classroom you would find flexible seating arrangements, students talking, and students participating comfortably in class discussions. Mrs. Shoopack greets each student daily and creates a community in her classroom that is inviting and comforting. At Kutztown University, Mrs. Shoopack helped to coordinate and run the Special Olympics during all four collegiate years, and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an educational honors society. Mrs. Shoopack had the opportunity to join Presidential Ambassadors and work closely with the President of Kutztown University, Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson. Mrs. Shoopack sees an administrative role in her future, specifically an elementary principal where she can lead other educators and continue to inspire students.
