My primary project was partnering with Heifer Project International to support 15 dairy farmers and maximize profitability of their animals. This position required me to coordinate my efforts with the local veterinarian to assess the status of cows and determine an appropriate action plan.One of my additional projects consisted of launching a waste management program at a local elementary school to encourage appropriate trash can use and create a compost system. I wrote and presented a grant application that successfully received funding from local Parent Teacher Association to support these efforts. As part of a country-wide initiative to fight the spread of malaria, I successfully created and facilitated a bed-net hanging campaign for the prevention of malaria transmission in my local health district. With the help of the health center chief, I trained 26 local community health workers on project framework and malaria prevention tactics. This project received local funding from the Bamenda 1 city council in allowed me to report directly to the local mayor. This project was completed with over 800 new nets hung in the health district.

Partnered with Bon Appetit Management Company to increase local food options within Carleton's dining halls. Harvested, and sold over $5,000 of organic produce over the course of the season.

This job was my first introduction to the world of sustainable agriculture! I supervised groups of campers throughout the day, whether we were harvesting eggs from the henhouse or going on a nature walk in the adjacent Rockefeller Preserve. We had group discussions about reducing food waste, learned about nutrient cycling, and instilled in campers the connections between farms and food.
