I find our work to improve the electrical grid to be interesting. Electricity is a foundation of modern society and one that is often taken for granted due in part to the success of reliability efforts. Today's clean energy transition is both a significant opportunity and challenge.At LS Power, I’ve worked to develop several major electric transmission and generation projects, including: ►San Jose Area HVDC Projects - The two largest competitive transmission projects in California. These projects use the most advanced technologies to address San Jose's electrical reliability challenges to today's growth and transition to clean energy. ►Central East Energy Connect Project - New York's largest competitive transmission project, with upgrades of nearly 100 miles of existing transmission corridors and two new gas-insulated substations.► Silver Run Project (sometimes called the Artificial Island Project) - The first major competitive transmission project in PJM that included a challenging three-mile long submarine cable crossing under the Delaware River. This project included America's first electric consumer cost protection cap for a transmission project and the first time that the environmentally protective vertical injector technology was used to install electric cables in the U.S.I lead teams of environmental, electrical, and other engineers, grid planners, and construction managers, together with local third-party consultants and engineers - all working to bring stability, reliability, and efficiency as we work towards America's clean energy transition.As we continue to be more dependent on energy from the power grid, keeping it resilient to interruptions is essential to maintaining the daily flow of life itself. The company is a member of the LS Power Group. As Vice President of Development, I lead the development, permitting, and construction of the project. This includes the full spectrum of activities from the establishment of the project definition, through community outreach and environmental permitting, entering into equipment and construction contracts, and construction.

Director | Project Development | Ensuring Energy Stability, Reliability & EfficiencySilver Run Electric 2013 - 2020Middletown, Delaware, UsSilver Run Electric, LLC is the developer, and future owner and operator of the Silver Run Project - a power transmission line under construction from the Delmarva Peninsula to southern New Jersey at the Artificial Island. The company is a member of the LS Power Group. The Silver Run Project is a first of its kind in a number of ways:► First major competitively awarded in PJM, which manages reliable service for 65 million Americans► First use of innovative Vertical Injector technology to install submarine cables as much as 25 feet below the bed of the Delaware River, and in significantly less time than conventional approaches► First cost commitment to protect electric consumers against any project cost overrunsDevelopment of the project presented a number of challenges, including seven 230kV cables crossing deep beneath a major shipping channel; environmental permitting split between the federal level and two states; and land use with a nuclear power station and state-owned marsh. With a strong commitment to using innovative technology to avoid and minimize impacts, and a great team, we were able to successfully permit and contract an execution plan that keeps the project on schedule and budget.
