Casey is a degreed meteorologist who is committed to keeping people safe during dangerous weather situations. He has witnessed the destruction storms can cause firsthand. When he was just five, an F3 tornado passed close to his family’s home, when they lived in North Texas. This was the spark that led to Cloud’s interest in the field of meteorology. Casey has been tracking North Florida and South Georgia weather since he moved with his family to Bradford County in June of 2000.In 2019, Cloud came up with the idea of creating his own Starke based weather operation. He has since launched Cloud’s Weather, LLC. Casey produces regular video forecast updates. When potentially severe storms and tropical systems threaten North Florida and South Georgia, he provides extended live coverage on multiple social media platforms. Cloud has offered streaming coverage of every tornado warned storm to impact parts of the area since December 2019. He is also the creator of cloudsweather.com.Casey has interned at television stations WALB (NBC/ABC) in Albany, Georgia and KFVS (CBS) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He worked with WSI Max graphics extensively and used them to tell critical weather stories. Cloud posted many weather graphics to social media while in Southwest Georgia. Casey has been described as someone who has a strong work ethic. One manager said he is “eager to learn and first to volunteer.” Casey did not just gain experience forecasting for these areas, but he also learned from mentors how to be a broadcast meteorologist and serve communities.He earned his meteorology degree from Mississippi State University. In one of his final courses, Casey even wrote about how to learn from January 2017’s rare winter tornado outbreak that killed over a dozen people in South Georgia. Cloud is also a proud graduate of Florida State University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Media Communication Studies. Casey earned a certificate in Emergency Management and Homeland Security as well. He is an avid supporter of FSU and Seminole Athletics.While in Tallahassee, Casey was a very active member of the FSU Weather team. Cloud produced Friday’s television shows during his senior year. He valued working with fellow students. Casey was also heavily involved in FSU Weather’s on-air and digital storm coverage during his four years in the Big Bend.
