Professor Baoxia Mi’s Membrane Innovation Lab focuses on the evaluation and application of nanomaterials to enhance water treatment processes. • Synthesized and characterized materials capable of interfacial solar vapor generation (the phenomenon exhibited by some materials to vaporize water at extremely high efficiencies using solely sunlight).• Led a collaboration that worked with a small-island community in Indonesia to understand how contextual factors should influence the design of a novel desalination technology using interfacial solar vapor generation.• Built a custom environmental chamber to control solar input, temperature, and humidity, in order to develop a computational model that can estimate the evaporative flux of interfacial solar vapor generating materials based solely on environmental factors.
