Profile bio

About Casey Stephens

My fascination with data began when rather than playing mindlessly with toy cars as a five-year-old, I would sit for hours racing them against one another, excited to record the results of each race and analyze the best cars. As I've grown, I have found a way to turn my young passion for data into a viable career through data science. I am incredibly passionate about data and emphasize creative solutions to complex problems through my extensive technical knowledge and communication abilities. I graduated from UNC with a B.S. in computer science and statistics, always looking for new ways to effectively apply my skills across many disciplines. I enjoyed working with UNC's baseball team, using R to create multiple regression models, ANOVA analysis, and more to help pitchers and hitters be more effective. Through various internships, I have applied and grown my statistical knowledge to analyze various data, from genetic and biological data to car battery and lithium supply chain data. My experience has strengthened my capabilities in R, Python, SQL, Snowflake, Tableau, and more. My passion for this field is driven by the diversity of its applications and the positive effects it can have on any industry. These experiences have inspired me to pursue a master's degree at the Institute of Advanced Analytics, where I will continue to grow my skills and abilities in pursuit of working in data science. Whether it be in the facet of data or life, I constantly find myself pushing limits and exploring many perspectives, getting outside of my comfort zone to learn and grow. In the last year, I pushed myself by traveling to Romania, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Japan, and many other places around the world, working/volunteering with many people from different backgrounds. These experiences have given me new perspectives and encouraged personal growth in communication and understanding, even across languages and oceans. I don't know what my future holds, but I am excited to apply my skills and experiences in a positive way.
