-Lead global team of 20 compliance attorneys, professionals, and paralegals, providing mentorship, training, and assessments to improve engagement and performance.-Provide ongoing legal guidance and advice on compliance issues to management, employees, and other stakeholders.-Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards.-Promote and reinforce the organization’s values and culture in a fast-paced, changing environment while supporting technology initiatives to improve risk mitigation outcomes and functional effectiveness. -Work closely with other departments, such as risk management, human resources, and audit, to identify and mitigate compliance risks.

-Managed legal department for geography that includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and India, while managing and developing team of attorneys, paralegals and outside contractors for the region.-Responsible for management of activities of legal function including contract negotiations, real estate, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, disputes, and management of COVID response, among others. -Supported and partnered with other functions of the NIKE, Inc. Office of the General Counsel including government and public affairs, brand protection, information security, business continuity, and ethics and compliance.

-Led global internal internal investigations function. -Counseled business partners and executives on a range of compliance issues.-Responsible for management of inquiries by state and federal enforcement agencies.-Led international World Cup 2018 Compliance/Risk Assessment.-Managed a team of paralegals and NIKE’s Litigation Director, in-house investigators, and outside counsel relationships.-Led global commercial litigation efforts including claims related to commercial contract disputes, real estate disputes, brand/sports marketing litigation, shareholder derivative suits, class action litigation, and others.

Extensive experience investigating alleged violations of the federal securities laws. Managed multiple, complex investigations of individuals and companies related to alleged financial reporting violations, accounting fraud, market manipulation, FCPA violations, offering fraud, and Section 5 securities violations. Obtained investigative testimony from dozens of witnesses, including C-level executives, outside auditors and inside/outside legal counsel. Prepared comprehensive memoranda summarizing investigations and recommending a course of action. Prepared press releases announcing SEC’s enforcement actions.

Represented public and private companies and individuals in investigations and other regulatory inquiries. Managed diverse docket of litigated matters for both plaintiffs and defendants. Negotiated numerous discovery, litigation and settlement agreements related to disputes of varying scope. Conducted multiple Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) due diligence investigations, including conducting interviews of international agents and drafting risk assessment reports.Co-lead counsel for Texas death row inmate in successful state habeas corpus petition, convincing Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to grant client a new trial based on due process violations under Brady v. Maryland, which led to Mr. Brown's eventual exoneration. His case was featured in Episode 8 of The Innocence Files on Netflix.
