Manage the systems and day-to-day operations at an innovative, fun and highly impactful organization dedicated to providing the essential skill of writing while inspiring young folks to be creative, be kind, and be fearless.Systems include HR, finance, evaluation, student data, donor data, volunteer intake, and store inventory. I also ensured the entire organization and it's two locations ran smoothly, which means each day was different and nearly every problem unique, challenging and interesting.I also supervised several staff and volunteers. I supervised a store manager, a store assistant manager, and several skilled administrative volunteers. This place was seriously fun to work at, yet took itself seriously when it comes to its mission and impact.I previously held roles here as the Store Manager and Volunteer Coordinator (but I've always been doing operations) and written a few grants and pitched in on fundraising campaigns from time-to-time.

I started as a volunteer consultant helping several Seattle area non-profits, then as a contractor helping with various internal projects related to volunteer management, and finally as an interim program manager.I learned a lot in these different roles and found I can quickly learn and adapt to new roles and organizations.

During a historic, inspirational and tragic time in Ukraine's history, I had the privilege of taking part in shaping Ukraine's future by developing life skills, critical thinking, and civic responsibility in youth. I designed and managed a United Nations drug prevention project called A Drug Free Zhytomyr and helped young civic activists constructively take part in changing their community and their country in the School of Democratic Action (Which I also helped design!)

Even though this assignment was cut short by the abrupt removal of Peace Corps from Ukraine, I was able to assess local NGO needs with the Zhytomyr Community Foundation and develop a plan for increasing the quality, impact, and reach of local projects by training the non-profit managers in fundamentals of project and grant management. I also got involved in Green Tours Ukraine, and helped design and facilitate an outdoor guide school.

They say Peace Corps is the hardest job you'll ever love, and I can't argue with that. It was a professional and personal challenge every day, but the personal growth from my service is priceless. Here are a few things I was doing for those two years.* Strategic consultation to over 10 non-profit organizations.* Wrote successful grants of over $100k from international funders* Designed programs and projects, made work plans, budgets, managed implementation and submitted reports and evaluations.* Ran a volunteer group of over 120 volunteers with a weekly community project.* Helped found and setup a community foundation.* Helped design two schools based on non-formal education principles that taught journalism and human rights/democracy.* Attended community meetings and events as a representative of America.

This job not only got me through graduate school with manageable debt, I developed great communication skills, customer service skills and learned a lot about event planning, balancing priorities, and managing time.
