I am a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques Practitioner working out of Half Moon Bay, CA. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as 'tapping," is an evidence-based practice that draws from aspects of acupuncture and Cognitive and Exposure therapies to help clients reduce unpleasant feelings, such as fear, anxiety, or overwhelm.EFT is commonly referred to as 'tapping" because it uses light tapping with the fingertips on acupuncture points on the hands, face, and torso. Clients focus on the truth of how they feel, accepting themselves in spite of these emotions, all while tapping on specific acupuncture points. A practitioner guides the client through the process, helping them discover and safely release the core issues behind their emotions, beliefs, and actions. EFT has been shown to be effective on a wide range of issues from fears and phobias to PTSD, physical symptoms, food cravings, and performance. EFT is also a wonderful tool that anyone can use on themselves to quickly break the stress response in the moment in order to calm the body and feel better. I have lead several group tapping sessions to introduce people to EFT and teach them how to use the technique to help bring a greater sense of calm and ease into their lives.Tapping would be a great addition to a wellness program, and can effectively be done virtually (Zoom etc.).
