I hold the role of an industry consulting manager at Accenture in public service. I specialize in strategy & inclusion, diversity and equity advancement strategy in the public service space. In this role, I have been tasked with leading diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy and framework development with our public sector clients in the West. My team and I work with clients to understand where they are on the DEI journey and how we can leverage and innovative and agile approach to advance DEI within organizations.

Influence an increase in equity and focus on diverse student groups by monitoring and distribution of funds for marginalized and underserved student groups. In this role, I coordinated State and Federal Programs for Oakland Unified School District. In this role I am responsible for the coordination and oversight of state and federal compliance laws and regulations to improve and enhance our educational systems that would essentially create more opportunities for critical, marginalized communities & student groups. I was tasked keep abreast all laws and regulations pertaining to categorically funded programs. I managed evidence of the implementation and attainment of these programs incorporated into the district for the benefits of the students connected to a budget of over 20 million dollars. To efficiently incorporate proper processes and procedures to meet compliance guidelines, we must consistently and effectively communicate with site leaders on how to implement and promote programs and activities to drive progressive evidence-based data measurements. Part of my role here is also to gather state and federal updates to Every Student Succeeds Act and train employees on how to manage assigned school sites’ use of categorical funds. Audits (federal/state reviews) that I have coordinated several times include Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) and Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co (VTD) Audit. A large part of my role here is to collaborate with internal and external partners on how to most effectively educate the district on state mandated updates to policy and discuss how we can prepare programs to increase organization-wide performance while remaining in compliance.

Section Coordinator: Institute for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion As a Section Coordinator for Texas Tech University’ s Office of Community Engagement, my role was to exercise discretion and independent judgement to define, document, and perform project development phases and tasks with an emphasis on training and knowledge management. I would visit with faculty and staff regarding business processes to gauge the effectiveness of our trainings. Our main goal here was to implement programs to promote and create an inclusive learning environment. I managed data collected from all programs and projects executed by the department and prepare budget analysis to present to leaders on department progression. Some of our institutional partners included Mentoring programs for low-income, under-served, or first-generation students, the admissions department, and housing department.

Department Supervisor-Institute for Diversity & Equity Advancement In this role, I supervised a unit within the diversity department. The unit, IDEAL, helps to encourage students to pursue a post-secondary education and help increase their knowledge with regards to requirements for entering a two- or four-year institution of higher learning. The department’s mission is to provide distinctive and unique outreach programs that promote academic excellence and diversity. The most important work is introducing underrepresented students to a collegiate experience and dispelling myths and fears about higher education. With IDEAL, I recruited students and families to attend programs that would education and enhance understanding of higher education. I was involved with grant management and proposal processes for several grant programs. I built and maintained relationships with international and organizational business partners. I also developed marketing and adverting techniques and executions for unit programs. While with this department, I worked closely with international clients like Brazil, who brought aspiring students to campus to educate and expose them to possibilities at the institution.

Coordinator for grant funded programs. A majority of the time in this position was spent under the East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood grant. This grant focuses on low SES families and a majority of the students from a under-served background. In the position, I was responsible for presenting college ready programs to these groups of students, created new and innovating programming to keep these student interested and motivated for a college going mentality, and re-assuring that they had access to all other students. Other grant funded programs that I would oversee included served students affiliated with the Maddox foundation and TTU. Daily responsibilities include representing the office of community engagement at Texas Tech University, presenting to k-12 students, hosting events on Texas Tech's Campus and at surrounding school campuses, maintaining semester goals for number of students seen, supervising student employees, and maintaining budget forecast for each semester.
