Burroughs & The Cult of Rock 'n' Roll, University of Texas Press, 2019; Music Copyright: An Essential Guide for the Digital Age, Rowman & Littlefield, 2021. The Zen of the Dead: The Grateful Dead and the American Pursuit of Enlightenment, Oxford University Press, 2021.Former Director, Music Licensing at SiriusXM. Responsible for licensing music catalog for transmission, working with labels and rightsholders to develop opportunities in partnership.Formerly CEO at Future of Music Coalition (FMC), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit for musicians and composers. Over ten years, I worked with lawmakers, artists, labels, developers, industry trade organizations, major media, academics, students and the public, and testified before the US Congress on copyright issues.I designed and taught a graduate level course at Georgetown University on the creative industries and disruptive technology, and taught creative entrepreneurship at Berklee Online. I also authored and instruct Berklee's first-ever music policy course for its graduate program. I have appeared in Billboard, Washington Post, New York Times, NPR, Bloomberg News, CNBC, Politico, The Hill, Chicago Tribune, Rolling Stone, L.A. Times, SPIN, Pitchfork, Wired, Wall Street Journal and more. I speak at conferences and events across the world, including CES, CMJ, SXSW, Digital Content Forum, and Canadian Music Week. I keep a busy guest lecturing schedule at universities such as Harvard Law, Northeastern, Howard University, Georgetown Law, American University, UC Berkeley and NYU, to name a few.
