I recently graduated from Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business majoring in accountancy. I plan to pursue a job doing real estate accounting immediately after graduation. I would like to acquire my CPA license as well. Through college and previous work experiences, I have developed many skills. I have spent five years working at Speedway, starting as a Customer Service Representative. One skill that I have developed is time management. I have worked at least part-time the entire time I have been in college, but recently I have moved into a full-time managerial position while being a full-time student. To continue to do well in school as well as work, I have learned to manage my time efficiently. I have acquired strong customer service skills during my time at Speedway. These skills include not only communication skills, but also problem solving skills. I can think critically and quickly to assess and solve problems customers or coworkers might have. I have been involved in training more than 20 new employees, and have even assisted new managers with things they weren't sure about. Recently, I had a manager not know how to print the weekly lotto winning numbers and I was easily able to show her how to do it.In addition to work and school, I also enjoy volunteering. Recently, I volunteered at an animal shelter while I was home visiting family in the Upper Peninsula. I plan to be involved with the VITA/Tax Counseling Initiative in the future.I am always looking for new opportunities to expand and strengthen my network.
