As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how important it is for mental health counselors to affirm and support individuals who often feel dismissed or disparaged. I feel compelled to serve those who often feel misunderstood or judged by professionals who are trained from a cisheteronormative perspective or do not have shared lived experiences. Therapy should be a safe process with informed clinicians, and I often work with clients on challenges specific to LGBTQIA+ identities.I have experience working with queer and non-queer clients ages 11+ in individual, family, group, and milieu settings. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the counseling process and incorporate feminist and relational theories into my practice. Throughout my jobs in many different fields, my goal has always been to service others in whatever way I can. I am prepared to take my diverse experience to my next career adventure and work with others to provide the best support possible to my clients.
