For my master thesis, I investigated the strength of grass covers on dikes. The goal was to investigate and quantify some of the processes and mechanisms that determine this grass cover strength. For the investigation, experiments have been done on several Dutch dikes by using a specially developed 'Grass pull device'. Results of the thesis provided insights into the grass cover failure modes on different soils, as well as insights into the fatigue behavior of grass covers. The thesis is done in co-operation with Infram Hydren.

My internship at Deltares was mainly focussed on the application of numerical models for solving various river related problems. The model was used for two cases; The first case dealt with the prediction of the discharge of several hydropower dams in a Japanese river. The aim of the second case was to investigate how well longitudinal dams could be implemented in a 1-dimensional numerical model.

ThermIQ is a manufacturer of infrared heating panels. My task was to solve any technical problems experienced by costumers with regards to their heating panels. Key tasks were:-Visiting costumers for installation or support-Support to costumers by phone & E-mail-Handling of returned panels-Investigating problems regarding the panelsNext to my tasks as technical support employee, I supported the R&D department by doing tests to improve the product.
