Broad shouldered and six feet tall, Thor had a quick and easy-going smile, a confident, swaggering walk and baby blue eyes that shone equally with mirth and kindness. He made friends with everyone he met and was always ready to pitch in and help a neighbor. He was a quintessential country-boy who loved to hunt, fish, and fix cars and trucks--either his own or anybody else’s, it didn’t matter. He was a dedicated member of the Toga Volunteer Fire Department since joining as a Junior member in 2012. Thor’s Hammer has been established in his memory. He was dedicated to helping others and those of us who loved and cared for him wished for a way to extend his care for the community beyond his untimely death. Thor’s family, friends and fellow firefighters are hosting an event with the hope of having a lasting positive effect on the volunteer fire service in the county and surrounding shared response areas.

Old Dominion RC&D is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serving 10 Southside Virginia counties. Our mission is to initiate and coordinate resource development and conservation programs that enhance the social, economic and environmental quality of the region.Our role is rural development. Our primary interests include, but are not limited to, the environment, recreation, education, tourism, and energy conservation. Local and state economic, industrial, and development commissions as well as planning district commissions are the primary leaders of economic development within our area. We strive to enhance rather than compete with their activities.Where possible, we try to stimulate the level of activity by assisting with the small business growth and development of niche industries. We do not limit ourselves as a funding or grant-seeking service. We help to develop local leadership and coordinate community and regional activities. My team developed the Media & Communications department for Yogaville. Over the course of three years we have grown our social media community from a mere 200 to well over 10,000 across the globe. We also served as webmaster, internet and email marketing coordinator, Google Advertiser and media archive consultants. Much of this service was accomplished while we were employed by SAYVA. Metro Digital Media and SignalOne Solutions, LLC is providing ongoing web, marketing and social outreach support for SAYVA.
