As a trial attorney, I represent clients in both state and federal courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as before administrative and licensing boards. I practice medical-malpractice defense, product liability, construction and premises liability, toxic-tort claims, employment law, and education law. I defend healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses, hospitals, practice groups, skilled nursing facilities, and institutions in all aspects of litigation involving claims of medical malpractice, wrongful death, and personal injury cases, from pre-suit investigation through defense verdicts at trial. I have successfully defended clients in court throughout Rhode Island and have obtained favorable jury verdicts. I routinely represent professionals as non-party witnesses and experts, as well as before licensing and administrative boards. I advise health care professionals and risk management on a variety of areas, including peer review, credentialing, and general practice. Frequently, I am invited to lecture at seminars, as well as moderate and participate in panel discussions, on various litigation topics.My practice also includes counseling clients on day-to-day aspects of the employment relationship, and I have practiced before administrative agencies, including the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights, in claims involving employment disputes, such as discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination. My education law practice includes advocating for clients in all aspects of education law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including determining eligibility for services and evaluations, Section 504 meetings, IEP meetings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and administrative proceedings. Previously, I served as a Rhode Island Supreme Court Law Clerk for the Honorable Francis X. Flaherty, as well as the Rhode Island Supreme Court Law Clerk Department. I am actively involved in serving the community, and I volunteer and hold leadership positions on Boards of multiple organizations, including Providence Community Health Centers, Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association, Roger Williams University School of Law, the Rhode Island Bar Association, and the Rhode Island Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness (by appointment of Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell of the R.I. Supreme Court).
