I head up human resources, finance, compliance, and legal functions for Run for Something, an organization that supports young, diverse Millennials and Gen-Zers to run for local office. I lead my team behind the scenes to create a positive, equitable, growth-minded team culture, and support the entire RFS staff to be stronger and more effective.

Step Up propels teen girls from under-resourced communities to become confident, college-bound, career-focused and ready to join the next generation of professional women. As head of the Chicago chapter, I oversaw all internal and external functions in a rapidly growing office, including human resources and talent management, strategic planning, budgeting, diversity/equity/inclusion, programs, fundraising, board, and external relations functions. Illustrative accomplishments:-Created and executed local strategic plan, with results including: exceeded revenue targets by growing annual revenue from $325,000 to nearly $1 million; increased number of teens served by 83% with YOY improved performance metrics; and doubled number of school partners by building relationships rooted in mutual goals-Brought Chicago chapter into net surplus for the first time in the organization’s history-Tripled local staff while building a strong culture and high retention rate, including 100% direct service staff retention two years running-Developed short- and long-range organizational vision, strategy, and operations as part of five-city executive committee reporting to CEO; part of a team that propelled national growth of $1.5 million budget to over $4 million-Innovated numerous local solutions that were implemented at the national level, for example, piloted DEI trainings that were adopted at the national staff retreat -Improved budget management practices, leading to better expense oversight and forecasting -Implemented board and staff trainings and retreats, using adult learning methods to achieve strategic goals -Recruited and retained diverse staff and volunteers; results included increasing Chicago staff from 25 percent people of color to 75 percent people of color-Instituted new quantitative/qualitative evaluation rubric for potential school partners, improving first-year program impact in new schools

Today's Chicago Woman magazine (published 1982-2015) was the magazine for and about professional women in Chicago. I led all editorial and digital functions, including staffing, planning, and contract negotiation. Illustrative accomplishments:-Honed project management skills in deadline-driven office, balancing print, digital, event, and administrative needs while managing dozens of staff and contractors -Brought TCW into the digital age, achieving a 400% increase to unique website visitors by redesigning website, building a blogger platform, and launching social media strategy-Developed topical expertise on issues such as reproductive health, women’s rights, international development, LGBTQIA+ rights, and workplace equity-Applied deep knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion to launch annual Diversity & Inclusion issue, which became respected among the corporate and DEI community
