I began my higher education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA from 1982 to 1984 wirh studies in Liberal Arts. After years of working, I decided that I needed to go back to school. I finally received my Bachelor's Degree in Technical Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management from DeVry University in 2006. And later I went on to complete my Master's Degree in Human Resourses at Keller School Graduate School of Management in 2007. I worked for the Postal Services for over 20 years holding various positions such as: Supervisor, Distribution Clerk, Priority Clerk, and Small Parcel Bundle Operator. Prior to working for the Postal Service, in 1985 I joined the United States Army Reserve as a Food Service Specialist. Throughout my military career I attended several schools to enhance my military skills. I have experience in Food Service and Food Service Sanitation, Training, Personnel Actions, Equal Opportunity, Stress Management and Advocacy. I became a Sexual Assualt Advocate in 2004 for the 84th Training Command in Fort McCoy, WI. While in Fort McCoy I was recognized for my leadership and concern for others, and was given two awards: Excellence Through Diversity and The Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award. After 911 there was an increase in death by suicide and attempted suicides within the military as well as the civilian sector. That is when I realized that there was another calling for me. In 2010 I volunteer for training as an instructor/trainer for Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST) for LivingWorks.
