My master's thesis project investigated how female role models can motivate young women to pursue a career in leadership, thereby increasing the representation of women in leadership positions in Denmark. Overall, the paper concluded that role models are an effective tool in motivating young women to follow a career path in leadership. Thus, the motivational effects depend on certain criteria such as the perceived goal embodiment, attainability, and desirability of the role models.
