Cassi Zimmerman currently serves as the Director of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Saginaw. Her role is to encourage and support economic development activities that protect the health, safety and welfare of City of Saginaw citizens while providing community sustainability and growth. This is done through small business development and outreach, placemaking, planning and zoning, and neighborhood outreach. She also oversees inspections, code enforcement, parking and environmental cleanup divisions. Prior to accepting this role, Cassi worked as the Business Development Manager at Saginaw Future for 5 1/2 years with a focus on economic development activities in the City of Saginaw while also working on various activities throughout Saginaw County. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, with a minor in Real Estate Development, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.  She expects to receive a Certification in Economic Development (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) in 2024.Cassi serves as a volunteer member of several boards and organizations in the area, including the Great Mural Project, Saginaw Career Complex: Entrepreneurship Advisory Committee, Saginaw County Land Bank Board, Hemlock Semiconductor Community Advisory Panel, and participated in Saginaw County Leadership Class of 2020.  She is a member of the Michigan Economic Development Association, International Economic Development Council, and the Saginaw Young Professionals Network.
