After spending just under 10 years in the U.S. Air Force as a linguist and intelligence analyst, I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting and Accounting and Information Systems Management, respectively. During this time I managed Airman and concentrated on mentoring and building my analytical skills that would serve me well for the rest of my career. I have had a gradual progression into the Accounting and Finance arena utilizing my analyst background. I was able to combine my degree with this experience during my last few years at NSA and then at the FBI when evaluating companies for the CIFIUS program. At Battelle Memorial Institute, I earned my Project Management Professional certification while managing finances for 50+ projects. The reporting ranged from standard Excel spreadsheets with estimates to complete and estimates at complete to complex monthly reporting with earned value measurements. Shortly after joining JPMorgan Chase as a Financial/Business Analyst contractor I earned the Certified Management Accountant credential which is covers Financial Reporting, Planning, Performance, and Control and Financial Decision Making. During my time in this position, I designed and developed reporting for use by multiple layers of management utilizing ERP data supplemented with analysis, manual processes, and status updates to be used for metrics and managing projects. Continuing at JPMorgan Chase as an employee and Financial Analyst, I was introduced to Agile Projects. In order to feel more grounded in my work I decided to study for the Project Management Institute - Agile Certified Practitioner credential. I find the role of finances in Agile projects fascinating and something that really needs to be explored more.Right now I am teaching and pursuing a DBA in Accounting at Liberty University.
