Youth Climate Leaders (YCL) catalyzes climate action by providing youth with training, networks and concrete opportunities to start their careers in the field of climate change. Although we represent the largest percentage of the world’s population, youth continue to face great barriers to secure gainful employment and economic security, while facing uncertain futures with mounting externalities from the climate crisis. Therefore, YCL offers unique pathways to equip young people with the tools needed to engage in the new climate economy. This includes immersive learning journeys, where participants develop an understanding of climate change in theory and in practice through hands-on work with climate solutions. Activities included the launch of the “Governors for the climate” initiative, which currently engages 22 Brazilian states.

Constituted in 2012, the Columbia Coalition for Sustainable Development (CUCSD) is a student-led organization created to provide the Columbia University community with the opportunity to engage in sustainable development-related conversations around the world.
