About Cassia Moraes

I have 15 years of experience in the field of climate change, focusing on policy, entrepreneurship, and research. When I started in the field, there were still many discussions about WHY climate change was a problem, progressing later to WHAT we should do to address it. The great question, now, is: HOW can we transition to more sustainable and just societies? I am thus focused on finding innovative solutions and acupuncture interventions that can unleash the change we deserve at the speed we need.I have lived in Brazil for most of my life, in the US for 3.5 years, and now in Europe for almost five years, and visited 39 countries worldwide. This gives me a unique perspective on the climate challenges of countries in the Global South and North. I believe that navigating such differences while building trust and lasting relationships is a crucial asset for climate policy at all levels.- - -In 2018, I founded Youth Climate Leaders, an organization that fosters climate action and careers by training and connecting young people with networks and opportunities to start their careers as climate leaders. Since 2022, I have joined Climate KIC, the largest public-private partnership to foster climate innovation in Europe, currently fostering innovation ecosystems in Latin America through international cooperation. Previously, I served as Deputy Executive Coordinator at the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change, and worked at CIVICUS, UNDP (consultant), the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), the Brazilian Mission to the UN, and Bradesco Bank.I hold an MPA in Development Practice degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from UNESP - Sao Paulo State University.
