Responsible for ensuring the design for manufacture processes is maximised. Creating CNC programmes for a variety of machines, using NX software and producing one off small batch components. Components made from tool steel/tungsten carbide Systems include:- CMM Renishaw softwareFanuc control - 3 Axis Vertical Mills / Lathes / Profile Grinders / Cylindrical Grinders.Sodick control - 2 and 4 Axis Wire Erosion. Jones & Shipman controls - Cylindrical Grinders.Siemens controls - 3.5 Axis Horizontal Mills. Lathes, Fanuc control 2 and 4 axis wire erosion,Sodick controlRecent Achievements:• Updating and modifying post processors (Tcl code). Resulting in a reduction of part programming time by 80-50%.• Implementing probing systems onto 3 axis vertical mill, enabling lights out running which, in turn, can allow the machine output to increase from 7hrs up to 15hrs per day. Duties:• Influencing the design for improved manufacturing performance in consultation with key stakeholders. • Maximising operational running and continuous improvement. Involved in all production meetings.• Leading on new production processes, checking and carrying out “prove outs” before manufacture.

A research and development position, with responsibility for providing creative, innovative solutions for reducing overall cost of manufacture and installation of roofing systems. Working on designing various new concepts using concrete, clay, polymers and hard and soft metals. Example trials include:• Created and run trials for a new fully integrated roofing system on a life size mock-up of a house with a budget of £150K. 4 different systems were created resulting in new designs being adopted that reduced assembly time by 50%, making average saving of £10k per unit. This project also resulted in 3 personally attributed patents as inventor. • Designed and trailed systems focused on enlarging concrete tiles whilst reducing the weight but maintaining strength, allowing faster installation. Tile now in production in Italy with €1.5M annual revenues.• Trialling new systems with a focus on stress analysis and product integrity. • Full written reports and technical notes produced for projects and new products.• Management and mentoring of several student placements.
