Established to assist in regional planning, the NCTCOG is a voluntary association of, by, and for local governments. The Environment and Development Department collaborates with member governments to progressively address regional environmental challenges. Currently, I supervise professional, technical and administrative staff in the management of environmental programs and projects. Researched Neotropical Cichlid Fish ecology and morphology and helped to construct the largest and most complete phylogeny to date based on the mitochondrial ribosomal gene 16S and the nuclear gene S7. My contribution to this research was acknowledged in the article Multilocus phylogeny and rapid radiations in Neotropical cichlid fishes published in Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution in February 2010.

Researched Neotropical cichlid fish molecular genetics and phylogenetics and developed proficiency with lab procedures such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gene sequencing, DNA extraction, electrophoresis, centrifugation, and gel extraction.
